Definition
A Responsibility is a specific duty assigned to a role — human or AI — within the AAOE Engineering Lifecycle. Roles represent responsibilities rather than people: one person may perform multiple roles, and one role may be performed by multiple people or agents, but responsibility, authority, and accountability for each role are explicit.
Why It Matters
Ambiguous responsibility is one of the most common sources of engineering risk in AAOE's model, especially once multiple humans and AI agents are collaborating on the same work. Every Work Order and every agent role defines clear responsibilities precisely so that no decision is left with no clear owner.
